BROKER'S COMMENT

This is the second build of the Laurie McGowan ‘Loon’ design mentioned, in concept, in Wooden Boat Magazine (#244). In my many years in business I have seldom, if ever, offered a virtually new boat so beautifully built and finished. She should be considered in ‘as new’ condition and she is ready to cruise.

With her tumblehome aft, oval ports, and the springy curve of the hard-top, she is a small yacht with a lot of character. She is for sale due to a change in the owner’s cruising plans.

DEAR DESIGNER'S:

I want a boat in which to cruise the Great Loop... so began Jack Monturi's letter to Laurie McGowan and Michael Scharcht, the guys who accepted the challenge to draw up LOON, a 24' 1" fuel-efficient outboard cruiser designed for amateur home construction. Read up on the concept design in WoodenBoat Magazine No 244. www.woodenboat.com/loon-11

OWNER'S COMMENT:

With the water and fuel tanks low down in the boat and fairly flat bottom in the aft end, she is quite stable considering the narrow beam and has a quick motion in a seaway.  Cockpit roof is relatively light and does not affect her roll.”
